Things about the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox You Must Know
Chevrolet is one of the automakers in the business. The Equinox compact cross was the company’s second bestselling vehicle after the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The interior and exterior of the Equinox 2018 model are both redesigned to look more appealing. The styling was changed, safety features increased and it came with a turbodiesel engine option.
The upgrade of this new model is a welcome development and may affect sales positively. Other crossovers like the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape and Nissan Rogue sold better than the Equinox 2016 model, so the upgrade might boost sales.
The Chevrolet Equinox 2018 model comes with four trim levels, two drive wheel variations, and three engines combined. You can have the three elements mixed and matched to some degree but the All-wheel drive has only three of the four trims. Check the breakdowns of the details below.
What is New in the 2018 model?
The 2018 model is a rebirth from the previous generation of crossovers. It was redesigned with styling cues borrowed from other Chevys like Volt, Cruze, and Malibu. Its new safety options include Low-speed Forward Automation Braking, Surround Vision and a Safety Alert Seat.
The latest 1.6-liter turbodiesel powered engine is the first of its kind in a compact crossover in the United States.
Engines & Transmissions
With respect to the engine, the Equinox 2018 model is in a class of its own. It features a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder DOHC type of engine with CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing). And with its standard front-wheel drive, the engine can travel 26 miles per gallon while driving in the city and 32 miles per gallon when driven on the highway.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder DOHC type of engine is an upgraded engine for the Equinox premium and LT trims. It delivers 252 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. The engine also comes with CVVT, stop-start technology, and direct fuel injection.
Equinox has no shortage with respect to tech features. All models are designed with the MyChevrolet mobile app used to remotely start or stop the engine, unlock and lock the doors and more.
