An eye opener which allows trainees to attend short-term training programs and a wide range of vocational training has been established, the New Kia-KOICA Green Light Auto Mechanic Training Centre. The local community got a reason to smile as more employment opportunities are availed. 60 chances are offered to the youths annually, and the company has plans underway of improving local repair shops in Dandora and Lideta.

Thanks to Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)and KIA Motors for jointly supporting the project with $1.8 million. World vision which is a non-governmental organization that works with 100 million persons globally jointly operates the center.

The establishment of such Green Light projects increases independence level of people especially the disadvantaged in the society. Considering that this training center is situated in Addis Ababa, there is likely to be more demand for mechanic services hence increasing more job opportunities.
